Eye makeup

When it comes to attracting people, the “eyes” have it.

Psychologists say people look at your eyes before seeing any other part of your face. The eyes reveal your mood.  Your eyes are what gets you noticed. Every woman wants to be noticed, and what is more sexy than thick long lashes, smoky lids and  shadows that make your eye color pop. Eye Makeup is key.

In fact, when polled, many women stated if they are running short on time the eyes makeup is primary in their routine, before foundation, blush or even lipstick.  They just do not feel dressed if they don’t have on Eye Makeup. We place a great deal of importance in our baby blues -or greens or browns.

Every generation has their basic eye makeup tricks.

A classic is to use two or three subtle tones of eye shadow shades to accent and define. The darkest color is usually put in the crease of the upper eye lid and fanned out.  Lighter colored shadow is used under the eyebrow and in the corners near the nose. For nighttime, darker, more vivid colors in Eye Makeup are used as opposed to during the day. Eye pencils or liners can be used on the lower lids and along the lash line on the upper lids to make eyes stand out. Use a color that is not your natural eye color to really get them noticed.

Eyes are not shaped the same.

There are unique ways  different eye shapes makeup techniques should  be applied. For instance, if your eyes are round, use a darker liner and line just the outer two-thirds of the top and bottom lash line. Also only apply mascara to the outer upper lashes. That will make them appear more oval-like in shape. If your eyes are smaller than you’d like them to be, accent them  by making your eye liner thicker in the center and tapering out at either end of the lash line. Apply black mascara thickly to both sets of lashes. To make your eyes seem not so wide set, make the liner thicker towards the inner corners of the eye and apply mascara more thickly on both the upper and lower lid lashes, closer to the inner corners. How you apply your Eye Makeup can either accent or detract from your eye’s shape.

Asian eye makeup uses three strategically placed shades of eye shadow. Asian women use a light one on the lids and under the highest point of the brow, a medium one in the crease, and a more bold color tapering out form the eye.  However, many experts caution the oriental eyes should steer away from deep browns and blacks as they make the almond shaped eyes appear smaller. Blues, plums and grays are best.

Whatever the shape or color of your eyes, there are many eye makeup tricks you can learn to make the most of what nature gave you.

You can still look natural when using Eye Makeup.  Or you can look dramatic, sultry, demure or bold. It’s really up to you. One thing for sure, when applied correctly, you will get noticed. And, that is what it’s really all about, isn’t it? To catch his eye, you need to make up yours.
